Kemi Tomide-Johnson is the founder of KLIMAX Family Hub CIC, a community-focus initiative dedicated to supporting African and ethnic minority families through culturally focused education, welfare support, and relationship building.
Her passion for social impact and family empowerment is deeply rooted in her upbringing and faith in God. Kemi’s mother, Deaconess Aduke Idowu-Adesanya, a prominent leader in Nigeria’s Better Life for Rural Women program in Ogun State, instilled in her a deep sense of purpose and service. This national initiative, led by the late First Lady, Maryam Babangida, aimed to uplift rural women through health education, business training, and economic support. Kemi’s mother worked alongside trailblazers like Titilayo Ajanaku, Nigeria’s first female local government chairman, to empower women through the Country Women’s Association of Nigeria (COWAN).
From a young age, Kemi assisted her mother as an interpreter, witnessing first-hand the struggles of underserved communities and the transformative power of community-led initiatives. These early experiences, coupled with her unwavering faith, inspired Kemi’s lifelong commitment to serving and empowering families in need.
Kemi’s faith has been a cornerstone of her life’s work, guiding her through both personal challenges and the work she does with KLIMAX Family Hub. As she faced the difficulties of cultural adaptation and raising children with limited support after migrating to the UK, Kemi’s faith in God strengthened her resolve to support other migrant families, particularly those facing similar challenges.
Her leadership qualities emerged early in her student years when she became the first female Speaker of the Student Union Government at her Polytechnic, co-founded the Achievers Club, and led anti-cultism campaigns through platforms such as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
In 2011, Kemi founded Achievers Community Project Charity, providing educational support and skills training to long-term unemployed individuals. During the 2012 London Olympics, she volunteered with Focus E15 in Stratford, working with homeless youth and former gang members—a role that earned her recognition from the East Thames Group.
In 2015, Kemi launched KLIMAX Events, an online platform offering relationship guidance and practical support, which later evolved into KLIMAX Family Hub CIC. This platform continues to serve as a resource for families in crisis, grounded in Kemi’s lived experience, cultural heritage, and strong Christian faith.
Today, Kemi remains dedicated to honouring the legacy of women like her mother, combining her deep faith, cultural wisdom, and practical action to build stronger, more resilient families and communities, one family at a time.
Kemi’s work has earned her numerous prestigious awards, including:
Africa Security Award: Exemplary Advocacy on Family Security Issues (UK House of Parliament, 2017)
